Metropolitan and Regional Long Range Transportation Plan Updates (Versión español)

The Department of Transportation and Public Works, designated Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) for all of Puerto Rico’s Urbanized Areas, hereby notifies the general public, public and private providers of transportation services, and federal, state and municipal governments and agencies, the opportunity to inspect and comment, during 45 days, the final versions of the November 2009 Updates of the Long Term Transportation Plans (LRTP), to the year 2030, for the following areas.

San Juan Urbanized Area, as defined by the year 2000 Census (38 municipalities; 35 included in the Plan)

Aguadilla Urbanized Area, as defined by the year 2000 Census (11 municipalities; 9 included in the Plan)

Urbanized Areas with 50,000 to 199,999 inhabitants (UZA), as defined by the year 2000 Census, grouped under the various Transportation Planning Regions (TPR), as follows: Southwest TPR (7 municipalities), South TPR (9 municipalities), North TPR (9 municipalities), Southeast TPR (4 municipalities) and East TPR (5 municipalities)

These documents present the Vision, strategies and recommendations to improve these areas’ transportation systems, including highways, transit and non-motorized modes, to the year 2030; while taking in consideration the limitations of reasonably expected financial resources for the same period (“financial constraint analysis”).  All of this, prepared in attention to applicable federal metropolitan planning rules, codified under Title 23 (23CFR, Part 450) and Title 49 (49CFR, Part 650).

The documents are by these means also submitted to the corresponding Policy Committees of the MPO, for their evaluation and approval, subject to the final consideration of comments received. Written communications have also been sent to all Committee members regarding this process.
